Homeopathic Constitutional Type Questionnaire
Davidson and colleagues at Duke University collaborated with a group of investigators at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital (RLHH) under the late Dr. Peter Fisher’s leadership to design, develop and publish a self-rated constitutional type questionnaire. This questionnaire assesses the characteristic health and constitutional features of nineteen commonly used homeopathic remedies. The presence of these features was considered to be associated with good response to that remedy. This 152-item scale has been shown to have acceptable psychometric properties established on over 400 patients.
In addition to the 152 core items, two eight-item modules for Bryonia alba and Coffea cruda have been prepared as supplements to the main CTQ.
This scale, the Constitutional Type Questionnaire (CTQ©), is believed to be one of the first of its kind. It may be useful either in baseline assessment or guiding homeopathic treatment choice. This scale might find additional uses in personalized medicine, where illness features are combined with additional personal information from the other domains. Examples of this are the four studies by Iris Bell and her colleagues at the University of Arizona, discussed and referenced elsewhere at this website.
